Please read these Terms and Conditions ("Terms") carefully before using Comix Vault (the "Service"), operated by Comix Vault ("we," "us," or "our").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Description of Service

Comix Vault is a personal comic book collection management application that allows users to catalog comics, track a wishlist, scan covers using AI-assisted identification, and store collection data with optional cloud synchronization across devices.

2. Accounts

• You must create an account (via Google Sign-In or email/password) to use most features of the Service.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.
• You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
• You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at support@comixvault.net.

3. Subscriptions and Payment

• Comix Vault offers a free tier (limited to a set number of cataloged comics) and a paid "Long Box Subscription" tier (currently $19.99/year) that removes this limit.
• Subscription payments are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. We do not store your full payment card details.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period, and no partial or prorated refunds are provided for the remaining time in an active billing period.
• Prices are subject to change with notice.

4. User Content

• "User Content" means any data you submit to the Service, including comic details, cover photos, notes, reviews, and ratings.
• You retain ownership of your User Content. We do not claim any ownership rights over the comic photos or information you upload.
• You are solely responsible for the User Content you submit, and you represent that you have the right to upload any photos or images you provide (for example, photos you have personally taken of your own comics).
• We store User Content to provide the Service to you, including syncing it across your devices via our cloud infrastructure (Firebase/Google Cloud).

5. AI-Assisted Features

• The cover scanning feature uses third-party AI services to attempt to identify comic details (title, issue, publisher, estimated value, etc.) from photos you provide.
• AI-generated identifications and value estimates are provided for convenience only and may be inaccurate or incomplete. You should independently verify any information before relying on it, particularly estimated values.
• We are not responsible for decisions made based on AI-generated content.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data.
• Upload content that infringes on the rights of others or that you do not have the right to upload.
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
• Use automated means to access or scrape the Service without our permission.

7. Intellectual Property

• The Service, including its design, logo, and underlying code, is owned by Comix Vault and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
• Comic book cover art, characters, titles, and publisher trademarks referenced or displayed within the Service (including in AI-identified results) remain the property of their respective copyright and trademark holders. Comix Vault does not claim ownership of any third-party comic publisher content.

8. Disclaimers

• The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
• We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
• Estimated comic values provided by the Service (whether AI-generated or manually entered) are for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as professional appraisals.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Comix Vault shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, we cannot guarantee against all possible data loss and recommend maintaining your own backup of important collection records.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at our discretion, including for violation of these Terms. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will indicate the "Last updated" date above when changes are made. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
